Carnatic singing from beginners to diploma level, with Academy of Fine Arts (London) exams.
Carnatic vocal is the most popular Fine Art at London Tamil Centre, with more than 120 students and several specialist teachers. Classes run from beginners through to diploma level.
Classes are on Sundays at Wembley High Technology College, East Lane, North Wembley, HA0 3NN, as part of London Tamil Centre Tamil School (Registered Charity 1018333).
Sunday Fine Arts are from about 11.15am to 1.15pm. Students are prepared for examinations of the Academy of Fine Arts (London) and often achieve high grades. Promotion to the next school level depends on the Tamil School’s own written and practical assessments three times a year.
Beginners usually start in September. Singers who have already learned elsewhere take a placement assessment.
